On behalf of the Officers and Members of the Upstate New York Operating Engineers Local 158, we welcome you to our website.Local 158, through its three Districts, has been representing Operating Engineers in various parts of Upstate New York for over one hundred and nine years.Local 158 is a “mixed” local, meaning it represents both Operating Engineers working as heavy equipment operators, mechanics, and surveyors in the construction industry, and stationary engineers working inside buildings performing all types of facility maintenance.Additionally, we also have many members who work in shops, quarries and airports, as well as a growing number of public sector units.Our jurisdiction covers 42 counties throughout Upstate New York.
Local 158 was chartered on January 1, 2011, when three autonomous Local unions were merged to form Local 158.The three Locals, 106 headquartered in Albany; Local 545, headquartered in Syracuse; and Local 832, headquartered in Rochester, became Districts of the newly formed Local.
Local 158, in partnership with our employers, has an extensive training and apprenticeship program with schools in three locations.Through our training program we strive to continuously upgrade the skills of our members to meet the needs of the construction industry, as well as recruit and train apprentices.We encourage you to visit the training and apprenticeship section of this website for further information.

The newly formed Local 158 consists of the jurisdictions of the former Local 106 (Albany), Local 545 (Syracuse) and Local 832 (Rochester), a total of 42 counties in Upstate New York, as indicated on the map below.
